All Camrys will now come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced electronic safety aids and driver assistance technologies. These include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams.

GMC's popular Terrain compact SUV has been redesigned for 2018, with a bolder yet curvier look than the outgoing model. However, the big news is under the hood. Three turbocharged engines will be available, including an efficient 1.6-liter turbodiesel. The new gasoline-powered turbos will employ a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Every Terrain will come with the Traction Select system that allows drivers to fine-tune the SUV's driving dynamics for different conditions. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available. The Terrain will be offered in a number of trim levels, including the opulent Terrain Denali model.

4. Kia Stinger

When you think of high-performance sports sedans, Kia probably doesn’t come to mind. However, when Kia took the wraps off the 2018 Kia Stinger at the Detroit Auto Show, the shapely coupe-like sedan stole the show. It will go on sale in the United States late this year.

A choice of two engines will be offered, including a twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 that’s expected to produce 365 horsepower. Kia estimates that it will produce enough power to launch the Stinger from zero to 62 mph in just 5.1 seconds. Rear-wheel drive will come standard, while all-wheel drive will be an option.

5. Lexus LS

It’s a busy year at Lexus, with two major products due to come to market for 2018. Their flagship sedan, the LS, is completely redesigned, gaining a dynamic coupe-like silhouette that’s nothing like the outgoing model. It’s longer, lower, and wider than before, gaining 1.3 inches in wheelbase.

The standard engine in the new LS will be a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that produces 415 horsepower and uses a 10-speed automatic transmission to send power to either the rear wheels or all four wheels. Four-wheel steering is an option. In addition to the advanced safety tech that you would expect in a flagship luxury sedan, the LS is available with a system that will actively try to steer around a pedestrian in its lane.

Pricing has not been announced for the 2018 Lexus LS. It’s expected in dealers by the end of the year.

6. Toyota CH-R

Arriving in dealer showrooms this April, Toyota's new small four-door crossover comes with a starting price of $22,500. The 2018 Toyota C-HR brings aggressive looks and sporty intentions to a segment that’s better known for practicality and efficiency. The C-HR was originally destined for Toyota’s now defunct Scion brand.

Like many Toyota products, the C-HR comes standard with emergency automatic braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. While the coupe-like profile appears to only have two doors, the handles for the rear doors are neatly hidden in the roof support pillars.

The C-HR seats five, but unlike most crossovers, all-wheel drive will not be an option.

7. Chevrolet Traverse

The redesigned 2018 Chevrolet Traverse is expected in dealerships this fall. It will seat up to eight passengers, and access to the spacious third-row will be enhanced by a second row that both tilts and slides, even with a child seat installed. All three rows will have USB charging ports.

Two new trims levels will be offered, including a sporty RS with unique exterior touches, 20-inch wheels, and a black chrome grille. The range-topping high country will feature an upgraded leather interior with suede accents, standard all-wheel drive, and power-folding rear seats.

8. Land Rover Range Rover Velar

The Land Rover Family continues to grow with the introduction of the 2018 Range Rover Velar. It will arrive in the U.S. later in 2017 with a base price of $49,900. It rides on the same platform as the Jaguar F-Pace, which is one of our top-ranked luxury compact SUVs.

Accessing the third row is a challenge in many midsize SUVs, but the Atlas’ second row folds forward in a way that provides an easy pathway, even when child seats are installed in the second row. Volkswagen’s customizable digital cockpit will be available on the Atlas, as will a number of advanced electronic safety aids and driver assistance systems.

Volkswagen has also introduced a redesigned Tiguan compact SUV for 2018.
